For their study of the earth’s glaciers evolution, i.e. 200,000 glaciers, over a 20-year period (2000-2019), scientists from the Laboratoire d’Études en Géophysique et Océanographie Spatiales (LEGOS), Romain Hugonnet and Etienne Berthier, and their collaborators have computed 1,000,000 stereoscopic images from the ASTER database. Once compiled, stereoscopic images enable scientists to measure the glacier height and compare their evolution from year to year.

This book compiles a sample of 250 images from the Arctic and Antarctic zone, selected by Etienne Berthier and Grégoire Eloy. 4,000 volumes like this one would be necessary to publish all images computed for the study.
