The recipient of the second LVMH Métiers d’Art residency program, Amandine Guruceaga worked at the Riba-Guixa tannery in Spain. Collaborating on site with artisans from the tannery, she produced about twenty leather-based works. Colour Sparks stems from this residency. The book offers a glimpse into the artist’s creative process, documenting the display of the works inside their exhibition space, as well as the six-hour painting performance that took place on the floor of the tannery, punctuating the book as a series of living pictures. The artist created a special leather motif from which each back cover was cut out, making a single original out of each copy.
