Olivier Cablat is an artist with a passion for soccer, former hopeful of a club in the Marseille area. For his project Le stade de la lose, he buys online between 2015 and 2017 a quantity of heterogeneous objects: panini cards, mascots, key rings or t-shirts. Behind each accessory hides a disturbing anecdote related to the history of football. We learn that the ashtray with the appearance of an airplane commemorates the death of almost the entire Torino Football Club team in a crash in 1949, that Bernard Tapie recorded a song entitled “Réussir sa vie” on a vinyl in 1986 or that a mug recalls the incredible kick that Eric Cantona gave to an English supporter in 1995. The French artist thus lifts the veil on the dark side of this so popular sport.
